Upstream oil and gas company PT Pertamina EP (PEP) said that it?s currently drilling a new well and plans to drill two additional wells at the Limau oil and gas field in South Sumatra in a bid to help meet this year?s oil production target.
PEP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, said in a statement last week that the company has prepared drilling programs for three wells including NR-47, NR-53, and LB-11 all located in Muara Enim Regency. ?The drilling of the NR-47 well has entered the final phase, waiting (for completion) within the next few days. It will be followed with drilling of NR-53 well in September. Hopefully, the three wells will contribute additional output of 300 bopd per well,? said Limau Field Manager, Abdul Muhar in the statement, but did not say when the LB-11 well will be drilled.
PEP said that as per May, oil production at the Limau field stood at 4,713 bopd, or 95.5 percent of the target set under the 2017 work program and budget (WP&B). Meanwhile, gas production stood at 9.92 mmscfd, more than 81 percent higher than the target set under the 2017 WP&B.
?Oil production for now has yet to meet the target. We still have six months to reach the target,? Abdul said.
Last year, Lamau field delivered oil production rate of 4,917 bopd, or three percent higher than the 4,766 bopd target, while gas production reached 8.97 mmscfd, or 28 percent higher than the 7.4 mmscfd target. The production achievement came despite the natural declining production rate at the field, PEP said. The company conducted a number of measures to help achieve the production rate including surfactant injection to reduce water content at the Niru Structure; finding of new production zones at the East Limau Structure; reopening and reactivation of 10 wells; regaining of three structures at the field previously put under joint operation with Indospec Energy.
