PEP finds new hydrocarbon potential in Jambi

PT Pertamina EP (PEP), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has found new oil and gas potential at the Jambi area, following drilling of the Puspa Asri (PPS-01) well in Kumpeh Ulu District, Muaro Jambi Regency, with recent flow test showed oil production potential of 453 bopd.
Vice President of Exploration at PEP Indra Prasetya said in a statement last week that PPS-01 well as the result of 3D seismic survey carried out in 2011. PPS-01 is a twin well of Arang-Arang Barat (AAB-01) well drilled in 1976.
The statement AAB-01 penetrated the Gumai Formation at a depth of 1,906 meters. Drilling of the PPS-01 well penetrated the Lahat formation at a depth of 3,820 meters.
Indra said that the finding shows a new challenge for the company to find new exploration pay in matured areas.
