PT Pertamina EP (PEP) had to postpone its drill steam test in TPN-1 (Tapen) well of Cepu Block in Central Java today as the local people did not allow it to be implemented.

"We?re supposed to conduct the DST in TPN-1 today. But the local people prohibited the activity because they said PEP had not yet made any social campaign to familiarize the locals with such activity. We may have to postpone it until tomorrow,? PEP Exploration Vice President Nanang S. Manaf told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Friday.

He noted that the TPN#1 had been drilled since August this year and had been prepared for the DST-1 activity.

Together with PEP Public Relations Division, he has tried to persuade the locals so that they will allow the DST to be conducted there. ?Supported by our colleagues from the public relations, we?re now trying to approach the locals,? he said.

The company had previously reported that it had conducted drilling tests on several oil and gas wells in August. Early indication reveals oil and gas shows. Those wells include Tegal Pacing-2 (TGP) in Cikarang (West Java) that has undergone a DST-1 recently; TBR-2 (Cepu Block) undergoing DST-2; ASB-1 (Indramayu Block) undergoing DST-1, and TSM-5 (South Sumatra) undergoing DST-5.

Nanang said that each of the wells were still waiting for the result report.
