PT Pertamina EP (PEP), an upstream subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, said that test result for conventional hydrocarbon in the Melucut-001 shale well, in Sumbagut non-conventional PSC, North Sumatra Province, shows little potential as the well only flowed small volume of gas.

"For conventional (hydrocarbon), the result shows little potential, only small (volume) of gas was found,? President Director of PEP, Nanang Abdul Manaf told Petromindo.com on Friday.

The PSC is 100 percent owned by PEP?s sister company PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) through subsidiary PT PHE Migas Non Konvensional Sumatera Utara (PHE MNK Sumut). PEP has been assigned to carryout drilling for conventional hydrocarbon potential in the block, while PHE focuses its drilling program to obtain core data of tight rocks interval believed to have potential as unconventional target. The Melucut-001 well was drilled at the end of last year.

Nanang added that PHE is currently conducting an evaluation of coring results to determine the unconventional potential. The block was awarded by the government to Pertamina in May 2015.
