PEP plans drilling program in Poleng field

Upstream oil and gas firm PT Pertamina EP (PEP), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, plans offshore drilling program at the Poleng field, offshore East Java, in August of this year, which will be the company?s first offshore drilling activity since it was set up 12 years ago.

Public Relations Manager of PEP, Muhammad Baron, said in a statement on Sunday that subsidiary PT Pertamina EP Asset 4, which operates the Poleng field, is currently making preparations for the planned drilling program.

?We?re currently making the entire preparations to help ensure smooth offshore drilling process at the Poleng field. The ENSCO 67 rig to be used in the drilling program is currently undergoing thorough inspection process,? he said.

Baron said that the well to be drilled is called Poleng N2 or CW-12H. ?If everything goes smoothly, the drilling activity will start in August of 2017 with duration estimated for 45 days, depth target of 9,000 feet, and cost of up to US$15 million,? he said.

He added, that the drilling program is expected to provide 700 bpd of oil, and 1.2 mmscfd of gas.
