PEP quickly extinguishes fire at crude pipeline in Blora

Fire broke out at PT Pertamina EP?s (PEP) crude pipeline in Blora regency, Central Java province Friday morning but the firm together with the regency?s disaster mitigation team was able to quickly extinguish it.

PEP?s Public Relation Manager Muhammad Baron said the fire incident occurred at 6 a.m. in Kalirej hamlet, Sambong village, Sambong district. It ended at 9 a.m.

?As of this afternoon, everything has been under control,? he said.

Police is investigating the case, he said, adding preliminary investigation revealed that the fire incident occurred due to illegal tapping.

No fatalities were reported but two people were injured as a result of the incident, he said, adding the injured were soon taken to a local hospital. One of them was permitted to return home after receiving medication, while the other needed more treatment at the hospital, according to Baron.
