PT Pertamina EP (PEP), the upstream arm of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), said the result of drill stem test (DST) at the Jati Ibon-1 well in in Melandong block, West Java, which was drilled starting on Dec. 20, 2013, indicates the presence of hydrocarbon prospect.

?DST at the Jati Ibon-1 well has just been completed and the result is quite good as there is an indication of hydrocarbon. We are still evaluating the test result,? Acting VP for Exploration of PEP Imam Setiawan told Petromindo on Thursday.

Imam added that the company is in the process of drilling five other exploration wells, namely Kuansu-1 in Papua, Puspa Asri-1 in Jambi, Akasia Bagus-2 in Indramayu, West Java, Kenari Raja-1 in Southeast Sulawesi, and Pondok Mulia-1 in Rengas Dengklok, West Java.

?Drillings at the five wells have yet to reach target depth. The average target depth of each of the wells is approximately 2,000-3,500 meters,? he said, adding that PEP plans to drill 12 exploration wells in 2014.
