PT Pertamina EP (PEP) announced on Monday it has kicked off the drilling of PMB P13/29 well in the Prabumulih field in Prabumulih City, South Sumatra.
The well is the tenth to be drilled by the firm in the country this year and it is also the third well to be drilled by the firm in the city, according to the firm in a statement.
The firm held a gathering with the local people and authorities on July 10 to mark the start of the drilling campaign. M. Echman, representing PEP, said the company needs to drill the well to maintain its production as reserves in existing wells have declined.
Achmad Sobari, representing the Prabumulih mayoralty, said the local authorities fully support the drilling as the local government will get more oil revenue if the drilling is successful.
