PEP: Tambak Lorok gas use will save Rp 21.4T over 12 yrs

The company, which is a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, said in a press statement on Thursday that the use of gas from the project, as a replacement of diesel fuel that is still on use in certain power plants, will improve energy efficiency across the island, as it will potentially save up to Rp 21,4 trillion during the next 12 years.
The cost reduction is due to the fact that gas is cheaper than the diesel fuel. In terms of calorific value, gas is superior at 26,31 times than that of the diesel fuel. The calorific value of HSD is 9.100 Kcal as compared to more than 239,000 of natural gas.
Based on the gas supply of 50 mmscfd for Tambak Lorok power plant, the energy cost can be reduced up to Rp5,4 billion per day or about Rp 21,4 trillion for 12 years.
This will come as Pertamina?s contribution to the government?s efforts of diversifying the energy sources away from the more expensive diesel fuels to the cheaper gas.
The CPP will become a processing facility of gas from the structures of Kedungtuban, Randublatung, and Kedunglusi in Gundih area of Blora regency, with a capacity of 70 mmscfd. Its net processed gas at 50 mmscfd will be channeled to PLTGU Tambak Lorok through a pipeline by PT. Sumber Petrindo Perkasa as a buyer under a contract of 12 years.
PEP noted that in constructing the CPP, it has prioritized the local workers. Up to 30 percent skilled workers employed for the construction are local ones, while 100 percent of those unskilled are local ones.
PEP is developing the CPP in cooperation with a consortium, consisting of PT Inti Karya Persada Teknik and PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk as the contractor of the project at a contract value of about US$120 million.
Among the facilities of the CPP that had been completed are control building, substation, pipe rack, and air instrument tank system. The others are still in progress.
