PT Pertamina EP (PEP), an upstream subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, plans to reactivate production at aging wells in the offshore Poleng field in East Java as part efforts to increase production this year.

Poleng field Manager Charles P. Siallagan said in a statement Friday that the company will reactivate production at AW-3 and AW-2 wells, which historically could reach natural production rate of 100 bopd before being shut down due to back pressure system.

Furthermore, the company will also carry out production at BW-5 and BW-6 wells by applying well to well gas lift system, and carry out work over at BW-2 and BW-3 wells.

Charles said that a couple of wells at Poleng field have been successful in applying the gas lift pack off (GLPO) method including CW-7 well with production rate of 700 bopd, DW-2 well with production rate of 20 bopd.
