PEP told to absorb more gas from FSRU

Upstream authority SKK Migas has asked PT Pertamina EP (PEP) to take more gas from floating storage regasification units (FSRUs) to fulfill customers demand. The gas can be distributed via existing pipelines.

PEP, for instance, has yet to optimize the maximum capacity of the Jakarta Bay FSRU, said Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja, Deputy for Commercial Control at SKK Migas.

?There is still excess gas capacity potential of the Jakarta FSRU which can be utilized by Pertamina EP. They (PEP) has been complaining that they could only fulfill about 70 percent of customers demand (for gas). Meanwhile, the capacity of the FSRU has only been absorbed at 1.5 MTPA,? Widhyawan explained to Petromindo.com Thursday.

Meanwhile, Hendra Jaya, President Director of PT Nusantara Regas, the operator of the Jakarta FSRU, said that his company was ready to provide more gas for PEP as only about half of the FSRU?s maximum capacity of 3 million tons per annum (MTPA) has been absorbed so far.

?We?re ready if we?re told to supply more gas for PEP. We have remaining unabsorbed capacity of 1.5 MTPA,? Hendra told Petromindo.com Thursday.
