PEP updates EOR program in Rantau, Tanjung fields

As part of its enhanced oil recovery (EOR) program this year, PT Pertamina EP (PEP) is studying the possibility of using chemical injection in its Rantau field in Aceh while preparing a field trial in August on the use of chemical in Tanjung field in South Sumatra.

?The EOR program at the two fields has started in 2009. We are weighting the possibility of using chemical in Rantau. In Tanjung field meanwhile, God willing we?ll carry out a chemical field trial in August,? President Director Syamsu Alam told petromindo.com.

The program at the two fields has been approved by upstream authority BPMIGAS, according to the firm?s Director of Planning Doddy Priambodo. ?The EOR is being carried out by the company, while the POFD (plan of further development) status has been approved by BPMIGAS,? Doddy said.

PEP has said it is in cooperation with a number of universities including Bandung Institute of Technology, Bogor Institute of Agriculture, Gajah Mada University and UPN Jogyakarta, to evaluate results of the company?s EOR program.

The EOR programs will be prioritized in the following fields, namely Rantau field (surfactant chemical injection), Tempino (water flooding), Kenali Asam (water flooding), Bajubang (surfactant chemical injection), Limau (Alkaline surfactant polymer), Talang Jimar (water flooding), Jabibarang (CO2 flooding), Nglobo (water flooding), Kawengan (water flooding), Bunyu (water flooding), Tanjung (surfactant) and Tapian Timur (water flooding).
