PT Pertamina EP (PEP) said that this year it cannot yet fulfill the gas need of its customers up to 100 percent, but it has vowed to stabilize its gas production this year at 1,160 MMSCFD.

?Currently, PEP has only managed to supply gas to its customers by up to only between 70 and 80 percent,? PEP President Director Syamsu Alam told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said that PEP would strive seriously to meet the need of its customers up to 100 percent. ?But we will need at least two years to realize that,? he said.

He added that the gas production shortage had been discussed with the upstream authority SKK Migas.

"We?ve experienced the gas shortage for about two years. We?ve informed all of our customers about it. There is no other way to increase production, except by increasing exploration activities. We?ll certainly do it,? said Syamsu.
