Perdana Karya eyeing new coal mines

IDX-listed coal miner and contractor PT Perdana Karya Perkasa Tbk is eyeing two new coal concessions in Mook Manor district, West Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, the company said in statement on Wednesday.

The coal areas belong to PT Bramaco and PT Prabuco.

Currently, Perdana Karya is conducting surveys on both concessions, which respectively measure 8,890 Ha (Bramaco)and 4,250 Ha (Prabuco).

According to the company, coal at Bramoco's concession has a gross calorific value of 5,300-5,500 kcal/kg, while Prabuco's has a gross calorific value of 5,100-5,300 kcal/kg.

The company did not give further detatils.

Perdana Karya has five coal mines in East Kalimantan and one in South Sumatra. The company targeted to produce 950,000 tons of coal this year from 380,000 tons last year. (denny)
