JSX-listed coal miner and contractor PT.Perdana Karya has increased production from its Teluk Dalam coal mine in Samarinda, East Kalimantan to 48,000-50,000 tonnes per month since August from 30,000 tonnes per month previously, a company official said.

Operations Director Tukidi told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that the increase was achieved after the company added excavators and dump trucks at the mine.

According to Tukidi, the mine produces coal with calorific value ranging from 6,100-6,300Kcal/kg. All coal is sold on spot basis to domestic and export market.

The mine will cease operations next year due to reserves depletion, he said.

Tukidi added that the company had recently acquired seven new greenfield coal mining concessions in Berau and Malinau regencies, covering a total area of 30,000 hectares. Exploration on the prospects would commence soon, he said. (denny)
