IDX-listed PT Perdana Karya Perkasa Tbk unveiled plan to produce liquid coal as alternative source of fuel for power plant and transportation in 2016.
"The production of liquid coal is part of our effort to increase the added value of our coal," Director of Perdana Karya Perkasa Untung Haryono told Petromindo.com in Jakarta recently.
He said that the company would need around 300,000 tons of low rank coal to be processed into the liquid coal per year.
"We are currently exploring partnership with Japan Gas Corporation (JGC) to provide technology for the production of liquid coal," he said. JGC is currently developing pilot project to produce liquid coal in Karawang, West Java.
