Perkasa Inakakerta coal mining site to enter construction stage

East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Perkasa Inakakerta will submit the construction plans for its mining site in East Kutai regency, according to a company official.

?We are still waiting for the approval of the feasibility study from the Directorate General of Geology and Mineral Resources. Once it is approved, we will submit the construction plans,? company head of engineering Samanhudi told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday.

He said the company expected the construction stage would be started by next month (February) and would be finished in two years. The company had appointed Posford Haskoning Ltd of United Kingdom to serve as engineering consultant, he added.

Samanhudi said based on the feasibility study results, the company planned to produce around 800,000 tons in 2005 and ramp up to one million tons in 2006.

?We projected the coal output will increase to around four million tons in the seventh year of production,? he said, adding that the company would sell the products in two brands.

According to the company, Inakakerta?s mining area, which is next to PT Kaltim Prima Coal?s concession, contains a sub bituminous coal of around one hundred million tons in mineable reserves.

Inakakerta is 75 percent owned by PT Kaltim Bara Sentosa, while Low Tuck Kwong and Soehandojo hold 15 percent each, according to the government official?s data. (robert)
