PT Perta-Samtan Gas, a joint venture between Indonesia?s PT Pertamina Gas (66%) and South Korea Samtan Co Ltd (34%), has played increasing role in supplying LPG at home.

Two years after the commercial operation of its two LPG refineries, the company?s LPG production as of end of 2014 totaled 190,150 tons. Condensate output reached 630,155 barrels.

Perta Samtan-Gas President Director Soeprapto Soemardan said during a celebration of the company?s seventh anniversary last week that the LPG output helps reduce the country?s LPG demand. ?We?ll continue to increase this (LPG output),? he said in a speech, but fell short of stating output target.

He said that the company has also contributed meaningful revenue for PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina. He pointed out that revenue last year reached US$165.7 million, accounting for 16 percent of Pertagas? revenue. Meanwhile, net profit reached $69.7 million, accounting for 22 percent of Pertagas?s net profit.

Perta-Samtan Gas operates two refineries in Prabumulih and Sungai Gerong, in South Sumatra, both of which started commercial operation in May 2013.
