The LNG was delivered last August at a volume of one ISO tank or 400 mmbtu for one unit of Caterpillar 777 owned by Cipta Kridatama in Sanga-Sanga, East Kalimantan, the firm said in a statement on Wednesday.
It is part of Pertagas?s program of encouraging mining firms in East Kalimantan to switch from diesel oil to LNG to provide fuel for its heavy equipment. The program is aimed to reduce the national diesel oil consumption.
Pertgas?s Director of Engineering and Commerce Eko Agus Sardjono said the program actually started in 2013. The first firm agreed to use LNG was coal mining firm PT Indominco Mandiri, which started using LNG in 2013. Berau Coal followed suit, started to use LNG in 2014.
