Pertagas diversifies into power generation

PT Pertagas, the gas distribution subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, is diversifying into power generation business to capitalize on the government?s aggressive drive to push power plant development in the country, Kontan reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Pertagas President Director Hendra Jaya as saying that his company has participated in a number of power plant tenders including the Java 3 and Java 1 gas-fired power projects, and a gas-fired power plant project in Riau.

Pertagas is not alone in the tender, but has formed consortium with partners including from France, Spain, and Japan, Hendra said, but did not provide further details. (*)
