PT Pertagas Niaga, an indirect subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has recently signed a MoU with PT Wahyu Samudra Indah (WSI) to supply gas for a planned power plant at a port in Muaro Jambi, Jambi Province, to be developed by the latter company.

Kontan.co.id quoted Pertagas Niaga President Director Linda Sunarti as saying that her company will initially supply 6 mmscfd of gas to the gas-fired power plant, and will increase the volume in the future.

WSI has obtained a license from the Ministry of Transportation to become the first private company to develop and operate a general port in the country. WSI plans to start construction of the port in 2017 and hopes to complete it in 2019.

As part of the port development, the company will also built a 25 MW gas-fired power plant, the capacity of which will be further expanded to 200 MW in the future. (*)
