Pertagas supplies gas to Jababeka

PT Pertagas Niaga, an indirect subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, signed an agreement PT Jababeka Infrastruktur on Monday, to supply gas for the latter?s residential and commercial areas in Bekasi, West Java.

Under the agreement, Pertagas Niaga, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), 500,000 cubic meters per month from various gas fields in West Java.

Jababeka is the operator of the Jababeka industrial complex in Bekasi, which is one of the largest industrial complexes in the country.

Pertagas said in a statement that it is now aggressively marketing natural gas to residential and commercial areas in the country in order to encourage people to use natural gas rather than liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and oil. Indonesia now imports 60 percent of its LPG needs, but enjoys a surplus of natural gas.

Earlier the firm signed a similar agreement with PT Lippo Mall Indonesia to supply gas several commercial areas owned by the firm across the country.
