PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a unit of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has recently signed head of agreements (HOA) with PDPA, an Aceh provincial administration-owned company, on the revitalization of the Arun LNG plant.

The revitalization project will convert the Arun plant into an LNG receiving terminal and regasification facility.

Pertagas President Director, Gunung Sardjono Hadi said in a statement received Wednesday that the revitalization of the Arun facility hopefully can help accelerate the development of the local economy in Aceh.

?We?ll bring in LNG from the domestic or overseas (market) for Arun LNG (plant), which will then undergo regasification process. The objective is to supply the (gas) needs of industries from Aceh to Medan, including fertilizer, paper, and power plant industries. As such, the economy will not die but resume growth,? he said.
