Pertagas to build mini LNG plant in Nunukan

PoD for Nunukan block expected in Sept/Oct

PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) plans to build a mini LNG plant in Nunukan, East Kalimatan, so that the planned gas production from the Badik field in Nunukan block can be realized.

Pertagas President Director Hendra Jaya told Petromido.com that the LNG plant is projected to be completed in 2018/2019.

He added that with expected production of 50 mmscfd from the Badik field, an LNG plant with capacity of 0.5 MTPA could be developed. The LNG can be delivered to a number of receiving terminal not only the NR terminal in West Java, but also to planned terminals to be developed in eastern part of Indonesia such as in Lombok, Halmahera, and Pomalaa.

Separately, Alfian Husen, a General Manager at PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (Nunukan), the operator of the Nunukan block, said that the plan of development (PoD) for the block is expected to be submitted to the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas in September of October of this year.

He told Petromindo.com that the company was still currently focusing on completing the pre-FEED and geological, geophysical and reservoir (GGR) study.

He added that the G&G study was expected to be complete in the middle of this year.

Pertamina Hulu Energi is the operator of the Nunukan block after acquiring the 35 percent interest of US oil and gas firm Anadarko in February of 2013. Medco Energi owns 40 percent interest in the block, with the balance equally shared by Indian Firms Videocon Industries Limited and Bharat PetroResources Limited.

The firm has found oil and gas reserve at the Badik field in the block.
