PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) will start construction of the 79-km gas transmission and distribution pipeline that will connect Muara Karang in Jakarta through to Muara Tawar and Tegal Gede in Bekasi, West Java end of this month.
Pertagas President Hendra Jaya told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that the company is awaiting permit from Jakarta provincial government to start construction of the 24-inch pipeline network.
He did not say the time needed to complete the project.
The pipeline will have a capacity of 270 mmscfd and will supply gas to the industrial areas around West Java and Jakarta. Earlier reports said that the project will cost Pertagas US$155 million.
Meanwhile, Hendra said, Pertagas parent company PT Pertamina (Persero) has made final investment decision on the 45-km Porong-Grati pipeline project in East Java.
The Grati pipeline will supply gas to state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) in Grati from Santos gas field. Pertagas reportedly will spend $87 million to build the pipeline.
