Pertamina aims to manage 15 shale gas blocks

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina aims to manage 15 shale gas blocks in Indonesia, according to Dedi Yusmen, CBM and Unconventional Hydrocarbon Manager at the company said on Friday.
He said that the target was made based on the shale gas potential scattered across the company?s working areas in the country. He added that the company is currently making joint study in Jambi and Riau.
Pertamina in May signed a production sharing contract to explore and develop shale gas potential in the Sumbagut block in North Sumatra, making the company as the pioneer in the shale gas industry in the country.
The PSC covers a vast area in Northern Sumatra, familiarly known as Sumbagut. The Sumbagut block is believed to hold 18.56 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of shale gas), while Indonesia is estimated to hold 574 tcf of shale gas.
