“East Java as a trade city provides us with huge opportunity to distribute fuel for large ships anchoring at Tanjung Perak,” said PT Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director Nina Sulistyowati on Monday, on the sidelines of the opening of the company’s Surabaya office branch, which oversees East Java, Central Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara region.

She expected the new office would better serves customers including ships and industries in the region particularly East Java where fuel demand has been growing at about 10 percent per year.

Meanwhile, General Manager for Region III at Patra Niaga, Bernard Siagian said that the shipping fuel market segment is still quite potential as the company has been largely distributing fuel to industries.

Bernard said that fuel demand in East Java is around 13,000-15,000 kl per month, much higher compared to demand in Central Java at 4,000-5,000 kl.

Total demand for the East Java, Central Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara region is 210,000 kl per year, he said.
