Pertamina allocates $15m for solar power projects

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has allocated US$15 million for developing solar power plants in several operation areas of the company this year.

This was said by Vice President of Clean Energy Department at Pertamina M. Taufik Afianto on Wednesday. He said that in the initial phase, a 0.2 MW solar power plant at Pertamina?s headquarters building in Jakarta will be inaugurated on May 20, along with a 0.5 MW solar power plant at the company?s Cilacap Refinery Unit IV.

Taufik added that aside from solar power plant, Pertamina will in the future also be engaged in the development of other renewable technologies.

The company plans to develop more solar power plants in other areas including in PT Badak NGL area, in several Pertamina gasoline stations, and its operation in remote areas.
