Pertamina applies ACS technology at Balikpapan refinery

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is cooperating with PT Yokogawa Indonesia to apply environmentally friendly advance control system (ACS) technology at its existing refinery in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, starting November of this year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.
The paper quoted Yokogawa Indonesia General Manager, Nanang Dwi Suprapto as saying that the ACS technology, developed by Japan?s Yokogawa Electric Corporation, can reduce CO2 emission by up to 3,400 tons per year as it allows more efficiency oil refinery process.
The paper said that the agreement with Yokogawa forms part of an agreement between the Indonesian and Japanese government for joint crediting mechanism, which has been ongoing for the past 3.5 years. (*)
