State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina has appointed Bermuda-based LPG trader Petredec Limited to supply LPG starting January next year.
VP Marketing Hanung Budya told reporters that the company will supply Pertamina for 10 years, starting with 800,000 MT next year, ramping up to 1-1.5MT in the second year.
Petredec was appointed after defeating 15 other tender participants including Saudi Aramco, A1, BP plc and Petronas.
Pertamina imports LPG to anticipate future soaring demand, as the country is shifting consumption of highly subsidized kerosene to LPG.
Pertamina Domestic Gas GM Wahyudin Akbar last week said that Indonesia?s 2009 LPG consumption might increase to 3-3.3 million tonnes from 2.2 MT this year. He also saw further increase from 2010 onward.(godang)
