Pertamina approved to install PoS system at gas stations gradually

Downstream oil and gas regulator BPH Migas has approved the request of state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina to install the required electronic device point of sales (PoS) at its gas stations across the country gradually.

Pertamina so far has already installed 112 PoS units at its gas stations in Kalimantan.

Djoko Siswanto, Fuel Director at BPH Migas, said that the authority has obliged Pertamina and other distributor of subsidized fuel products to install the PoS, which will help in the monitoring of the distribution of subsidized fuel products and help prevent the abuse of the fuel by non-targeted consumers.

Djoko said that Pertamina has sent a letter to BPH Migas requesting for more time to install PoS system in the country?s entire gas stations.

He warned that the regulator will not pay the fuel subsidy if the distributors of subsidized fuel products fail to install the PoS system at their gas stations. This requirement will be put forward by BPH Migas when making verification of three companies interested in distributing subsidized fuel products in 2013 including Shell, AKR and Surya Parna.
