The government has assigned state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina to develop gasoline stations in remote regions in the country starting next year to help ensure that motorists there can get fuel at prices similar to those in major cities.
Director General of Oil and Gas IGN Wiratmaja Puja said in a statement on Monday that the estimated Rp 54 billion project will be funded by the 2017 state budget.
Puja said that the government has issued Presidential Regulation No 191/2014 assigning Pertamina to supply and distribute fuel products at the same retail prices across the country. However, in remote regions prices are higher due to the absence of Pertamina gasoline stations.
