Pertamina assigned to supply, distribute gas for land transportation

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued new Minister Decree No 2435 K/15/MEM/2014 assigning state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina to supply and distribute gas fuel for land transportation.

According to the copy of the decree obtained Friday, to help realize the task, Pertamina will have to develop and operate 22 new CNG refilling stations and seven mobile refueling units with its supporting infrastructure facilities in Jakarta, Banten, West Java, and Central Java this year. The new facilities will be partly financed by the state budget.

Pertamina will also be responsible in supplying CNG to existing 23 CNG refilling stations in Jakarta, East Java, South Sumatra, and East Kalimantan.

According to the decree, Pertamina will be tasked to supply and distribute a total of 37.7 mmscfd of gas in the form of CNG in 2014-2019, about 24 mmscfd of which to be allocated in Jakarta, Banten, and West Java and 10.2 mmscfd in East Java, and the rest distributed in Central Java, South Sumatra, and East Kalimantan.

The decree also stipulates a number of obligations and requirements that Pertamina must fulfill.
