Pertamina awaiting Petronas? further response on D Alpha Block gas project

Wednesday, July 10 2002 - 11:35 AM WIB

Malaysia?s state energy firm Petronas has yet to inform Indonesian state oil and gas firm Pertamina about when the two parties could resume their negotiations on Petronas? plan to participate in the development of gas field in East Natuna?s D Alpha Block, Pertamina upstream director Iin Arifin Takhyan said on Wednesday.

Iin said Pertamina had opened for Petronas its data room on the D Alpha fields about three weeks ago. The block is located in offshore Natuna Sea.

?With the opening of the data room for them we could hope that Petronas would soon show us what it is going to do further. In our next meeting with them, we can even discuss about price if they want,? Iin told reporters.

Petronas so far had not revealed percentage of D Alpha Block?s field it is seeking, but Iin said earlier Pertamina was ready to give up to 13 percent stake in the field.

US oil energy giant ExxonMobil, through its subsidiaries Exxon Natuna Inc. and Mobil Natuna Inc., holds 76 percent interest in D Alpha Block. Pertamina holds the remaining balance. (godang)
