State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina said that its Cilacap refinery in Central Java has recently made maiden export of propylene product at a volume of 2,300 tons.

The company said in a statement Monday that the propylene product was shipped on October 12 to China, with Marubeni Corp as the buyer.

General Manager of Cilacap refinery Dadi Sugiana said that propylene is one of the products produced by the refinery?s residual fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) unit, which was inaugurated in November of last year, in addition to HOMC and LPG. ?The market prospect of propylene is quite promising with the advanced development of the petrochemical industry,? he said.

Dadi said that the RFCC unit has a capacity to produce about 430 tons per day of propylene. The Cilacap refinery previously sold the propylene product at home including to petrochemical firm PT Chandra Asri.
