Pertamina begins market trial of new Pertamax Turbo fuel product

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina on Thursday started market trial of its new high-octane gasoline product called Pertamax Turbo at eight gas stations in Jakarta.

Pertamina President Director Dwi Soetjipto said in a statement that the company expects the new gasoline product, with research octane number (RON) of 98, higher than the RON 95 Pertamax Plus, to be well responded by the Indonesian market.

He said that the company will later expand the market trial to other gas stations particularly in the Greater Jakarta Area. He said that the new gasoline product will be available in 500 gasoline stations across the country by the end of this year, targeting a total sales volume of about 100,000 kilo liters this year.

Pertamina, during the market trial, puts a retail price of Rp 8,700 per liter for Pertamax Turbo, which is produced by the unit IV of the Balongan fuel refinery.

The company has earlier launched the new gasoline product in Europe in cooperation with Lamborghini, which Pertamina?s technical advisor in the development of the gasoline product.
