Pertamina books profit of Rp10.55 T in 2001

State oil and gas firm Pertamina said on Friday it had booked profit of Rp10.55 trillion (US$=Rp8,712) in 2001, or an increase by 16.83 percent from Rp9.03 trillion in 2000.

The profit mostly came from oil and gas exports, and upstream operations, Pertamina said in a statement.

As much as Rp6.03 trillion of the Rp10.55 trillion went to the government, or a 15.03 percent increase from Rp5.23 trillion in 2000, the company said.

The figures had been based on an audit conducted by State Finance and Development Auditor (BPKP).

Pertamina said however its total assets dropped to Rp96.89 trillion in 2001, from Rp100.02 trillion in 2000.

The company added the portion of its profits going to the government over the past three years had averaged 96.97 percent of the total amount received by the government from the profits of all state enterprises in the same period.

Meanwhile, Pertamina?s contribution to the state budget had averaged 24 percent of overall state revenues over the past three years, it said. (Godang)
