Pertamina boosts security at Balikpapan refinery

Wanted terrorist said now in East Kalimantan

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina is boosting security at its refinery in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan following warnings from the police that top terrorist Noor Din M. Top could now be hiding in the region.

?Police has said there is an indication he (Noor Din M. Top) is now East Kalimantan. That?s why we boost security measures to protect our property in the area,? Abadi Poernomo, Pertamina?s spokesman, said on Thursday.

Pertamina?s main property in East Kalimantan is the Balikpapan refinery. Aside from the refinery, the province is also home to the Badak LNG plant, the world?s largest of LNG plant. A number of big oil and gas and mining companies also have operations in the province.

Noor Din is considered as a leading terrorist in the region along with Dr. Azhari. They are said to be the masterminds of several terrorist attacks in Indonesia over the past several years, including the 2004 attack on the Australian embassy in Jakarta. (godang)
