State oil and gas firm Pertamina and BP Indonesia on Wednesday made a presentation about the results of their Analysis Concerning Environmental Impact (AMDAL) conducted at their planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Tangguh, Papua, BP Indonesia said.

The presentation meeting took place at the State Ministry of Environment in the presence of leaders of the national office of Analysis of Environmental Impact Commission (ANDAL), House of Representatives (DPR) members, and activists of non-government organizations.

Pertamina and BP, which will jointly develop the Tangguh LNG project, had made similar presentation in Jayapura on April 15.

Pertamina and BP said on Wednesday they had involved 28 villagers from Tangguh in preparing their AMDAL documents.

Pertamina and BP had planned to develop the Tangguh LNG project in 2003 and completion is expected for 2005. The outlook is that the plant will start producing LNG in 2006 with the first export shipment to commence in the same year.

Tangguh has 14.4 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserve. (Leo)
