Top officials of state oil and gas company and BP Migas, Indonesian upstream oil and gas authority will meet with Japan?s western LNG buyers mid may in Japan for the next round of negotiation of LNG contracts extension.

?One of the main agenda on the meeting is to respond western buyers? wish to source Indonesian LNG from Bontang and Tangguh in one package using dual source system,? Baihaki Hakim told reporters Friday.

Baihaki said dual system western buyers asked was due to increasing concern in security of supply. ?We have no problem with their wish for dual source system,? he said.

Baihaki added that this meeting will not discuss LNG pricing, one of the most important issue in negotiation.

Japan?s LNG buyers, which are located in the western part of Japan, grouped themselves in the so-called western buyers. The group had earlier expressed commitment to buy around 12 million tons of LNG annually when their present contracts expired around 2010. (godang)
