State oil and gas company Pertamina's president Baihaki Hakim said the company had bought millions-dollar equipment from American firm Foster Wheeler for its refinery in Balongan, West Java.
Baihaki said the equipment was to replace the broken one at hydrogen plant of the Balongan refinery, but he did not provide details.
"All the replacement for the equipment which is needed to be replaced has arrived. All is imported from Foster Wheeler," Baihaki told Petromindo.Com on Friday after a meeting with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
"The new equipment will be installed early February," he added.
He said Pertamina expected the Balongan refinery would perform well after the new equipment was installed.
The refinery, which supplies fuel to Jakarta and West Java, has often experienced technical problems since it started operation in 1995. Observers said it was built with substandard equipment.
Baihaki refused to reveal the price for the new equipment.
"It costs millions of dollar," he said. (Godang)
