The state oil and gas company Pertamina has just cancelled another 23 business contracts plagued with corruption, collusion and nepotism, the Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Monday.
Pertamina spokesman Ramli Djaafar said that the measure was part of continuing efforts to investigate some 159 Pertamina projects allegedly saddled with corruption, collusion and nepotism practices.
He said that so far there was a total of 82 projects cancelled by Pertamina since the company started its effort to wipe out corruption in 1998.
"The fight against corruption, collusion and nepotism shows the will and seriousness of Pertamina to create a new transparent working and culture environment," Ramli said.
Bisnis Indonesia said that many of the contracts cancelled by Pertamina were those won by the family and friends of the former president Soeharto.(*)
