Pertamina cancels LPG price hike

Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has decided to shelve a plan to increase domestic prices of liquefied petroleum gas indefinitely, as the government rejected the proposal, Bisnis Indonesia reported Thursday.

"The increase won't take place May 1," the daily quoted Pertamina's vice president director, Iin Arifin Takhyan, as saying.

Pertamina had planned to increase the price of LPG sold to industries by 31% from Rp 4,250 a kilogram currently and to households by 11.8% from Rp 4,250/kg amid rising global oil prices, the newspaper said. (*)
