Pertamina chief commissioner quits SBY success team

Pertamina?s chief commissioner Sutanto has finally quitted one of the success teams for presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono amid pressures from other candidates.

The former national police chief said in Jakarta on Monday that he had decided to stay at Pertamina and stopped campaigning for the SBY-Boediono pair to comply with the election regulation which forbids executives of state companies to involve in election campaign activities.

Speaking to reporters following Pertamina?s shareholders meeting, Sutanto said; ?If it is against the regulation, I will concentrate on Pertamina,? he said.

Other presidential candidates have strongly criticized the involvement of a number of state firms? executives in campaign activities for the SBY-Boediono pair. Sutanto is a co-founder of the Pro-SBY Movement (GPS), a group of self-proclaimed supporters of and campaigners for SBY. (*)
