Pertamina compensates villagers for harvest failure

State oil and gas company Pertamina agreed to pay compensations to seven farmers in Besitang, Aceh for oil pipe leak which reportedly caused damage on their paddy plants.

Waspada reported that Pertamina agreed to pay the farmers Rp 10,000 (US$1=Rp 8,695) per liter of potential paddy harvest

The paper reported that the farmers had failed to grow their paddy on three hectares of land due to the oil leak.

According to the paper, the farmers agreed with Pertamina that they would no longer plant paddy near the oil pipe. (*)
