Pertamina competitive bidder for Libyan oil block

State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina has submitted bid to acquire stake at Libyan oil discovery and has been declared as one of ?competitive bidders? by Canadian firm Verenex Energy Inc.
Newly installed CEO Karen Agustiawan told reporters o Friday that Pertamina has submitted its bid on January 27, 2009.
She did not give further detail.
Verenex has 50 percent interest in Area 47 in the Ghadames Basin in Libya. DeGolyer and MacNaughton carried out an independent assessment of resources in Area 47 effective September 30, 2008 with best estimate of gross contingent resources and risked mean estimate of gross prospective resources, on an oil equivalent basis, is approximately 2.15 billion barrel.
The other 50 percent stake in the block is owned by Indonesian energy firm PT.Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. (godang)
