PT Pertamina EP (PEP), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has recently completed the so-called Kupalanda 2D seismic survey in West Papua.

This was said by PEP President Director Rony Gunawan to Petromindo.com on Wednesday. He said that the seismic data will be further studied to determine the next activities.

The company started the 2D seismic survey in December of last year which covers a total length of 431 km in several districts in two regencies in the province, namely Kokoda district in Sorong Selatan regency; and Kamundan, Wiriagar, Tomu and Aranday districts in Teluk Bintuni regency.

The seismic survey aims to find new hydrocarbon resources in the area. The last time Pertamina carried out seismic survey in Papua was in 1998.
