State oil and gas company Pertamina confirmed that it had selected PT Chiyoda International to make the front end engineering design (FEED) for the ninth train at the Bontang liquefied natural gas (LNG) complex in East Kalimantan.

Chiyoda International is a joint venture between Chiyoda Corp and Mitsubishi Corp.

Pertamina named the consortium the winner of the contract for the making of the FEED a month ago, Pertamina?s downstream director Ariffi Nawawi told Petromindo.Com on the sidelines of a meeting between the state company and the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Pertamina plans to increase the LNG complex?s capacity by 2.95 million tons a year to 24.5 million tons a year.

Ariffi said Pertamina is looking for buyers for the LNG to be produced by the so-called Train I in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China.

After securing a buyer for the Train I products, Pertamina will hold an international tender for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, Ariffi said. (Godang)
