Pertamina, ConocoPhillips still in talk to unitize Suban III

PT Pertamina EP (PEP), the upstream unit of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero), has targeted to unitize Suban III gas field in ConocoPhillips? Corridor block, onshore South Sumatra by the end of 2011.

"To unitize the Suban structure, negotiation process between PEP and ConocoPhillips is underway and hopefully will reach a meeting point as soon as possible. Our target is it must be completed as the process has been going for quite a long time (about four years)," Pertamina EP president director Syamsu Alam told Petromindo.com

Syamsu refused to go into details, citing the ongoing process.

A credible source said there had been no plan to develop Suban III gas field proposed by ConocoPhillips to BPMIGAS. "As there is no plan of development for Suban phase 3 yet, how can we talk about the technical aspect," the source told Petromindo.com

BPMIGAS has asked ConocoPhillips to revise plan of development (POD) for Suban phase III, but even revision of the Suban phase II has not been submitted. When contacted, ConocoPhillips declined to comment.

In June last year, BPMIGAS urged ConocoPhillips to soon develop Suban III field in order to meet the gas demand in Java. ?So far the gas for Java is supplied from Suban I and II. Now Suban III should be also developed to meet the domestic demand,? BPMIGAS? official had said.(godang)
