State oil and gas company PT Pertamina is sounding out the possibility of cooperation with Bolivia for oil field joint operation in South America.

"We?re still sounding out such possibility with Bolivia. We?re interested,? Pertamina Upstream Director M.Husein told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Pertamina Business Development Senior Vice President Andriansyah, in Bolivia it is gas that is mostly found, so that perhaps it won?t be a portfolio of Pertamina to invest abroad. "Perhaps, a joint operation with Bolivia to develop oil fields in other South American countries,? he told Petromindo.com.

The step, he added, will be like the one implemented with Kufpec in the Middle East and with KNOC in Central Asia. "For domestic we?re considering exploration joint study for the three partners,? he said.
